BEIJING, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- China has achieved "early harvest" on a number of sustainable development goals over the past four years, according to a report released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The country's precise poverty alleviation strategy has produced remarkable results, the ministry said in a report titled China's Progress Report on Implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (2019).

From the end of 2015 to the end of 2018, the number of people living in poverty in rural areas decreased from 55.75 million to 16.6 million, with their per capita disposable income rising from 7,653 yuan (about 1,093 U.S. dollars) to 10,371 yuan, the report said.

The macro-economic performance has been stable. The gross domestic product reached 90.03 trillion yuan in 2018, up 6.6 percent year on year. A total of 13.61 million new urban jobs were created and the surveyed unemployment rate remained at a relatively low level of around 5 percent.

All-round progress has been made in all social undertakings, including health care, education, public legal service, and etc, according to the report.

The ecological environment has been continuously improving. In 2018, energy intensity and carbon dioxide emissions decreased by 3.1 percent and 4 percent respectively from the previous year. The government has also comprehensively advanced air pollution control and implemented the strictest water resources management system.

International development cooperation has been effectively advanced. China firmly upholds multilateralism and the international system with the United Nations at the center, the report said.
