MEXICO CITY, May 7 (Xinhua) -- Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum on Thursday urged the United States to provide verifiable evidence to support its accusations that several Mexican officials have ties to organized crime.

On April 29, U.S. prosecutors in the Southern District of New York indicted Ruben Rocha Moya, governor of the Mexican state of Sinaloa, and nine other Mexican officials with drug and arms trafficking charges.

Acting U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche said Wednesday that the U.S. prosecutors will file more charges against Mexican politicians, noting that cooperation of drug cartel leaders transferred to the United States could lead to new indictments.

In response, Sheinbaum said, "We do not protect anyone, absolutely no one," adding that the sovereignty of Mexican institutions must be respected and that any charges must be based on solid evidence.
