Iran says U.S. attacks Iranian vessels, civilian areas

Iran's main military command, Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, said Thursday night the U.S. army attacked two Iranian vessels near the Strait of Hormuz and concurrently carried out airstrikes on civilian areas in the southern Iranian province of Hormozgan and Qeshm Island in cooperation with some regional states.

The attacks by the U.S. "aggressive and terrorist" army violated the ceasefire between Iran and the United States, said Ebrahim Zolfaghari, the headquarters' spokesman, according to Iranian media.

Iran says no conclusion reached yet on U.S. peace proposal

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said Thursday the country has not yet reached a conclusion on the U.S. peace proposal and has not responded to Washington.

In an interview with the official news agency IRNA, he noted that Iran is still reviewing the messages exchanged via Pakistani mediation.

2 individuals evacuated from hantavirus-hit ship confirmed infected in Netherlands

Two of the three individuals evacuated from Dutch cruise ship MV Hondius have tested positive for hantavirus in the Netherlands, Dutch medical institutions confirmed on Thursday.

The Dutch Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) said one individual admitted in Radboud University Medical Center has been diagnosed with hantavirus.

China slams EU's discriminatory restrictions on Chinese inverters

China has firmly rejected the European Union's (EU) groundless designation of China as a so-called "high-risk country" and its decision to restrict funding support for projects using Chinese inverters, devices that convert solar panels' direct current output into alternating current for use in homes and industrial facilities, China's Ministry of Commerce said on Thursday.

A spokesperson for the ministry made the remarks in response to media reports that EU officials had stated the bloc would prohibit funding support for projects using inverters from "high-risk countries" such as China.■
