MILAN, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) -- Chinese pianist Lang Lang will take the stage at the opening ceremony of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games on February 6, the organizers announced on Thursday.
The organizing committee describes Lang Lang as "more than a pianist: he is a bridge between cultures, generations, and worlds."
"At the Olympic Opening Ceremony, his piano will give voice to a global narrative, where emotion, encounter, and wonder come together before the eyes of the world," it said.
Lang has previously performed at the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, sharing the stage with a young pianist.
The upcoming ceremony, to be held at Milan's iconic San Siro Stadium, is built around the theme "Armonia" (Harmony), emphasizing the shared human values. ■
